Bringing Hope to Haiti

Port au Prince, Haiti suffered a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake on January 12, 2010. Immediately upon hearing reports of the devastation I thought, “Lord, send me, I want to go.” But it wasn’t time yet. My China trip was looming over the horizon and honestly, I was not qualified to offer the type of aid necessary for first responders. So I actively waited; purchasing Help for Haiti t-shirts, sending cans of formula, Pedialyte, and baby bottles, knowing that soon, God would open doors for me to travel to Haiti. That time has arrived. Just six short weeks after my return from China, July 15 – 19, I will travel to Haiti. After so many years of serving on the shadows God is “suddenly” catapulting me to the front lines.

As part of the River Stone Haiti team, in conjunction with www.forhisgloryoutreach.org, I will serve at the, Maison des Enfante de Dieu orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti. God allowed me to love the abandoned, disabled, forgotten children of China and through that He has softened my heart to the cries of widows and orphans worldwide. During my time in China God chose to use me to bring comfort to a dying child. For seven days I loved and cared for that precious toddler and was honored to hold him while he breathed his last breath. It was a heart breaking experience for me, but what if I had not been there? Who would have cradled this child in his last moments? After 40 years of not knowing my destiny, I am now absolutely certain that I am called to bring the love of Christ to widows and orphans.

The cost for this trip is approximately $2500 which includes airfare, accommodations, transportation, immunizations and food. The time frame for fundraising is much smaller for Haiti than it was for China. Would you consider assisting with a financial contribution or a commitment to prayer? Our China team had 24 hour prayer coverage during the entire two weeks we were in country and it was obvious as we experienced no major sickness or mishaps. For anyone living in the San Marcos area I am available for housecleaning, child care, car washing, lawn mowing, closet organizing, errand running, meal preparation, ironing, et cetera.

Haiti donations may be mailed to Becky Miller, PO Box 1167, San Marcos, TX, 78667. Make checks payable to Riverstone Community Church with my name in the memo field. Donations may also be made via PayPal by visiting Owe No Man Ministries. Be sure to check back here for trip updates. Humbly serving, Becky Miller
