God In Your Flesh

Mylon Avery’s book, God In Your Flesh clearly demonstrates growth in the author.  Avery’s second book reveals personal maturity, is articulate, and well-written. The lack of a five-star rating correlates directly to the reviewer’s preference for the fictional genre.

Readers desiring to better understand the Holy Spirit will find answers to all their questions nestled within the pages of, God In Your Flesh. Avery addresses questions found both within and outside the walls of the traditional church.  One need not have been raised in church to find revelation.

Avery uses both personal testimony and easy to comprehend examples to drive home his points. Readers will find gems such as this one regarding the differences in those without the Holy Spirit observing those whose lives reflect His presence, “You have a body like them, a personality like them, you face challenges like them, and yet, there is something amazing on display in your life.” As well as this one,  “You have an excellent treasure that’s foreign to them, but they cannot deny the result or effect of that treasure.”

Also addressed in the book are the weaknesses of those who have the Holy Spirit yet continue to live contrary to that reality.  Avery states, “They possess the life-giving power of God within them, but when trials come, or God expects them to take a step of faith they shrink back in fear.  They are unable to manifest what God is pushing them to do in the spirit.  I truly believe the church is weakened by a lack of power at work in the flesh.  We have good intentions but rarely follow through.”

The truth can be hard to hear, but within the pages of God In Your Flesh, Avery takes a clear and unapologetic, although non-condemning stand. A great read for anyone desiring a clearer understanding of how the Holy Spirit truly operates in our daily lives.
