Shackled

CB017213

At the center of your world her charm grew,
With each day that passed she fell deeper for you.
She captured your heart for who could resist
Those big green eyes that sparkled with bliss?

Across the world to another land,
The duties of war can change a man.
She went this way, you went that,
Neither sure how to recapture the past.
The chasm that grew could not be traversed,
And damages done cannot be reversed.

Two lonely hearts now break in their shell;
Muffled sobs rising from each personal hell.
Strong eyes grow dim from their failure to see.
Rejection has made prisoners of both you and she.
