Cross Shadow

Andrew Huff’s, “Cross Shadow” is a disappointing sequel to the original, “A Cross to Kill.”  Protagonist John Cross and Christine Lewis seem watered-down versions of their former selves.

The premise of the story centers around the murder arrest of Christine’s step-brother. However, readers can easily get lost in the complicated narrative, completely forgetting the plot is actually tied to finding the truth surrounding the circumstances of his arrest.

As in the first novel, the action scenes can be a bit overwhelming.  As a Texan familiar with the Dallas area, this reader was still lost amongst the overly descriptive finale.

Hopefully, Mr. Huff’s third book in the trilogy will bring redemption to the discouraging second novel.
